Eriza was born in a lower industrial tier of [[Rheinland Federation|Neu-Rhein]], within sight of logistics towers and armored transport depots. In the Rheinland Federation, competence is currency. She earned hers early.

From early adolescence she demonstrated an aptitude for controlled violence: composure under stress, efficient movement, no hesitation once given command parameters. She was inducted into a national rapid-response special forces unit — the Blitztruppe. Officially, their role was stabilization: suppression of raiders, protection of convoys, intervention in internal unrest before it escalated into civil fracture.

Unofficially, they were a scalpel used to cauterize political problems.

The rebellion that defined her career began as a provincial dispute. A satellite Ark Unit accused the central authority of resource hoarding during repeated Collapses. Food distribution delays and Stygium reactor maintenance failures created shortages. Protest became sabotage. Sabotage became armed resistance.

Her unit was deployed with a clear directive: restore order swiftly to prevent fragmentation of the larger settlement network.

They succeeded.

Eriza led breaching operations through maintenance corridors and lower habitation decks. She neutralized insurgent leaders. She secured reactor cores. She authorized the use of Stygium munitions in enclosed environments where collateral damage was considered acceptable under emergency statutes.

The rebellion collapsed within days; the cost became visible only afterward.

Damaged hydroponics systems failed. Structural stress from internal combat weakened a joined Ark Unit during a subsequent Collapse. Evacuation protocols malfunctioned. Civilian fatalities exceeded projected thresholds. Refugee displacement destabilized neighboring settlements. Raider activity increased in the power vacuum created by the crackdown.

Official reports framed it as a necessary sacrifice to preserve the greater whole. Eriza received commendation, promotion, and a ceremonial weapon marking her as exemplary.

She did not protest the narrative. She simply stopped believing it. Her disillusionment was not rooted in pacifism. She did not regret suppressing the rebellion. She regretted serving a command structure that calculated acceptable loss without inhabiting it.

Order, she concluded, was still essential. But it mattered who defined it.

Rather than defecting dramatically or turning against the system, she resigned formally. Her record was too decorated to erase, too public to silence. The state allowed it. A decorated officer seeking “private security employment” was not a threat.
